Hulu Adds Upcoming Los Angeles Lakers Docuseries to List of Original Content

Hulu recently announced that a 9-part documentary about the famous Los Angeles Lakers of Los Angeles origin will be included. The Untitled series will come from controlling director Antoine Fuqua (The Magnifying Seven) and Lakers CEO and owner Jenny Boos. Fans will be able to trace the last 40 years of Lakers history with the purchase of the team by the late Jerry Boos and interviews with more than 35 people in the organization. Fans will listen to the stories of Phil Jackson and Pat Riley who have coached the team as well as famous players such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Shaquille O'Neill.

Starting with his acquisition of the team in 1979, the documentary captured Jerry Boos' remarkable journey to create, maintain and pass the sports empire of family travel. The project would provide a new and engaging look within the legendary "Showtime" era, which won the team five NBA titles and turned the Forum into Hollywood's hottest ticket in the 1980s. The series also details the court and unbelievable successes of the championship teams led by Kobe Bryant and Shakeel O'Neill, as well as the cultural impact of the Lakers franchise and the team's rebirth, culminating with the 2020 NBA. The championship was led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis. At heart is a story about sports, business and, most of all, family - and how those competing forces must be prepared to gain rigor.

Talking about the series, Buss said:
