‘Spiral’: Evans with Chris Rock, it’s the same old ‘Saw’
A few laughs from a master comedian can’t justify more torture porn from the played-out franchise.
Detective Zeke Banks (Chris Rock) gets his hands dirty
investigating murders by a Jigsaw copycat in “Spiral.” Lions gate
We’re not deep into that filthy and gory torture-porn crime
procedural “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” when a certain character does a
certain thing that may seem inconsistent to everyone else in the room, but it’s
a clear one “We have our killer for the audience. There is no other reason for
this character to do a special thing.
It's not that detecting Whodunnit always spoils a film. After all, there are only a handful of suspects in most murder mysteries, and even though we narrowed it down quickly to one or two candidates, if we're looking at a well-crafted story, we're going to travel. can enjoy. Alas, the ninth installment in the 'Saw' franchise does not meet those standards. Despite the normally removed creativity pulled by a string of murders of psychotic masterminds, some darkly funny moments led by Chris Rock and a first-rate cast, "Spiral" remain under his name. It takes more of a downward as a horror, dumbbell-down horror story that tickles the audience than provides any compelling reason with a long-running franchise, leaving a trail of blood.
This is the fourth “Saw” film for Darren Lynn Bosman, and he
clearly knows how to stage the infamous scenes where some overlooked,
creepy-sounding monster kidnaps a target person and gives him something The
offending complex is put inside the device and one wants to “play”. Game “in
which the victim must choose between such fun results as serious injuries,
killing someone else or saying hell with it and dying horrific death. Within
the first 10 minutes,” Spiral “is actually a combo platter of three genres
Identifies itself as:
- This is definitely a “saw” film, with an opening scene that dares us to keep our eyes on the screen as we see a man embedded in a device on a subway track that shows him stripping his tongue Or gives the choice between allowing the train. To transform her into a human lasagne.
- It is also a Chris Rock comedy vehicle. For the first time Rock’s detective Zeke Banks appears on screen, he delivers a hilarious, edgy riff on “Forest Gump” that sounds somewhat straight from a stand-up special.
- And this is a cliché-ridden coop film, which is evident from the very next scene, in which Undercover Cop Zack reads a riot act by his boss, Captain Angie Garza (Marisol Nichols), who screams at him to be a team player. Is not. And she can’t do it --- anymore the city is on the verge of boiling during this summer – and the whole thing is such an obvious tribute / wave of the original “Beverly Hills Cop,” and Nicholas turns to the camera and When it is over.
For the alleged plot in “Spiral”, someone is kidnapping,
torturing and killing the police – all of them from Zeke’s prefix – and doing
so in a late twisted style, not a hang-up. Are, who was killed by a group of
films. First but has inspired many disciples and imitators. The killer keeps
sending video drives containing video clues and sinister “souvenirs”, such as
fingers and limbs cut off for Zeke, teamed up with crook detective William
Schenk (Max Mengele) against his will, because No one else will work together.
After Zeke turned into a dirty cop a dozen years ago. Seeker’s only other true
accomplice is his father Marcus (Samuel L. Jackson), a former chief of police.
(Director Bowman feels that there is one thing for “Pulp Fiction”, Jackson’s
casting, a visual reference to “Jules and Vincent” and Rock’s character being
named Ezekiel, as in “Ezekiel 25:17, The way of the righteous man is troubled
everywhere… ”).
One by one, police are ambushed by the same prefix and
usually faint before waking up and are trapped in elaborate contraceptives to
find themselves, which would have taken months to manufacture (let alone the
testing process. Imagine that). The unseen Ara-wannabe reminds them of their
corrupt ways and then explains exactly how they will die – unless they take
some kind of action that will result in “only” mutation or paralysis, but they
are allowed to live. Will give. Meanwhile, Zeke tries to piece together Jigsaw’s
puzzle, which often takes him to chase the wild goose, before it is too late to
make a difference before Zeke realizes it. . We know that we are heading
towards a final confrontation where Zeke will find himself face-to-face or at
least face-to-face with this latest Aura knockoff, and we know that the end is
almost certainly still the door. Will leave it open. Another “Saw” film – and
that possibility is just wearing off.
