Here's What The Kids Of '90s TV Stars Look Like Today
As the years go on, child stars are often cemented in history as fresh-faced kiddos. But they all eventually grow up—and some even have children of their own. While TV's most iconic '90s kids may still appear as teens on the small screen and on streaming platforms, many have moved on to much bigger roles as parents. Take a look at some of the most famous kid actors of the '90s and their progeny.
Tia Mowry-Hardricht
This sister, sister star has come a long way since her time as half of the most famous twins in Hollywood (after Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, of course). In addition to starring in shows like The Game and Instant Mom, Tia Mowry-Hardrick became a mother in June 2011 when she welcomed son Cree with her husband, actor Corey Hardrick.
Back in March 2015, the actress spoke with Vibe about creating a good work-life balance after birth, and she revealed that, while her baby is her main priority, she finds herself very deserving "me time" every time. "Giving sure. In a while. "The number one key is basically to prioritize," Mowry-Hardrick explained. "I am a mother and wife first because family is important to me, and part of living a balanced life is not feeling guilty for taking care of myself."
Hopefully, as her family grows, Mowry-Hardricht will continue to make time for herself. In November 2017, Mowry-Hardrict took to Instagram to announce that she and her husband were expecting their second child together.
Tamera Mowry-Houseley
Mowry-Hardricht's twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley, is about to embrace her new role as a mother of two young children—son Aidan, born in 2012, and daughter Aria, born in 2015. And it's clear that Mowry-Housley finds parenthood to be a fulfilling experience.
told Essence in 2014, "I am so grateful to have chosen to be a mother. Children are from God and you are a path through." "I've had some of the happiest days as well as some challenging ones in my life. But as a result, it has molded me into the person I am today. As I teach my son, he teaches me."
But while kids can be an incredible gift in a parent's life, they also bring some headaches, because Mowry-Housley knows everything all too well. Describing the stress that goes along with having kids — sibling fights, school dysfunction, or what have you — Mowry-Housley told People magazine, "...cry too. We all just cry. Huh."
Candace Cameron Bure
Like her TV dad Danny Tanner, Candace Cameron Bure welcomed three white children into the world. But, unlike his Full House family, Burr didn't just have girls. Instead, she gave birth to a baby girl, Natasha, and two younger sons, Lev and Maksim.
Similar to his character DJ Tanner on Fuller House, Bure has become the type of parent who likes to know everything is going on in his kids' lives—and that's from being strict if it's in the best interests of his youth. is not afraid. "Being a mom is my biggest priority," Bure told LA Parent in December 2016. "I hope my kids will say I'm a loving mom. They'll tell me tough too."
She explained, "We set firm boundaries, but there's always love and grace. I'm the mom who needs to meet the parents before my kids go home to a new friend. I want to know whose they are. being together, where they are going. ... My goal as a parent is not to make my children happy, but to guide them to be respectful, curious, responsible, flexible, kind, giving and considerate adults To do."
Considering that her eldest child, Natasha, published her book, Let's Be Real: Living Life as an Open and Honest You, we'd say that Bure is doing a great job as a mama.
Jodi Sweetin
After starring as middle sister Stephanie Tanner in Full House in the '90s, Jodie Sweetin battled some personal demons—mainly, cocaine, crystal meth, and alcohol abuse (via Redbook). But, as the actress revealed in a 2009 interview, motherhood forced her to clean up her act and calm down.
"I sobered up for good on December 7, 2008," Sweetin told Us Weekly. "I was flying to L.A., and I took a bunch of Nyquil and was drinking as a s***load. When I got home, I got a call that there was an emergency custody check because of my drinking. That's it. From the day ahead I threw myself into going to AA and avoided people who blow up their coffee tables."
Sweetin is the mother of two daughters, Zoey and Beatrix, each from previous relationships.
Beverly Mitchell
There's no shame in imagining Beverly Mitchell as the naive Lucy Camden and not-so-married mother of two; The 7th Heaven star still finds it hard to believe she's a parent herself! "I still don't feel old enough to be a mom!" She told People in 2015.
Yet, despite her disbelief, Michelle knows that raising daughter Kenzie and son Hutton has been one of her greatest achievements. She told the magazine, "Of all the amazing things I've done in life, nothing is more important. Being a mom is the best thing." "Seeing them embracing life with their new eyes and enthusiasm really thrills you and makes you realize what life really is."
It's fortunate that Michelle feels like it, as she previously admitted that many of her mom's friends were boring. "[Now] I am that woman!" revealed Michelle, who is married to Michael Cameron (via People). "My whole night is going home, making dinner, putting [my daughter] down, and then my husband and I will watch a movie together."
Lacey Chabert
The former Party of Five Child star became a mother in September 2016 when she gave birth to a baby girl named Julia Mimi Bella. But the pregnancy was not that easy for Lacey Chabert. In fact, the actress said she would feel much bigger during those nine months and often referred to herself as "a beached whale in distress" (via People).
Thinking about her family in April 2017, Chabert said, "But it's all worth it when you look at that beautiful baby." "It's true, what people say, that you watch them grow up and you really imagine yourself doing it all over again."
It's sweet and all, but we just want to know if Chabert's daughter ever sees her iconic Mean Girls performance. Well, at just 7 months old, Julia had already caught a glimpse of her mother's hit film. "It was actually on TV the other day," Chabert explained to People. "She turned and she looked and it was the 'Jingle Bell Rock' part. She started laughing. I was like, 'I think she recognizes me!'
Kel Mitchell
When the 2000s rolled around, All That star Kel Mitchell traded in his Good Burger gig for daddy duties, welcoming son Lyric and daughter Allure with his then-wife Tysha Hampton. Nearly two decades later, Michelle married second wife Asia Lee, growing their family with the birth of daughter Wisdom in July 2017. But before Baby Wisdom was born, Michelle sought inspiration from her past to create a memorable pregnancy announcement—much like the joy of '90s kids everywhere.
Revealing that he and his wife were expecting, Michelle shared a photo of him and his wife holding a paper Good Burger hat and a burger and a bottle of orange soda. "We have a bun in the oven!" He wrote on Instagram along with the picture.
After the arrival of Wisdom, Mitchell continued the Nickelodeon theme. In late August 2017, he posted a photo of a newborn holding a toy bottle of orange soda, his Kenan & Kale character's all-time favorite drink. The following month, she celebrated Wisdom's two-month-old by snapping some photos of her baby girl in All That Hussey. Very Lovely!
Melissa Joan Harte
After marrying musician Mark Wilkerson, Clarissa Explains It All star Melissa Joan Hart expanded her family, welcoming three sons over the years: Mason, Braydon, and Tucker (via E! News). And, as might be expected from a family of five, Hart soon found that parents had to make some sacrifices to ensure that their children had a fun childhood—namely a clean home.
"There's a sign in my house that says 'Please excuse the mess, my kids are making memories,'" Hart told Us Weekly in November 2016. "I think it's important to remember. They're only small once, and there'll be a day where I'm not lifting Lego and Silly Putty isn't strapped to my couch and I have a really neat Might be home. But those are the days when I'll miss my kids."
Too Bad Heart doesn't have the same powers as the character Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Then she could have everything!
Christine Lakin
After playing Alicia "Al" Lambert on Step by Step, Christine Lakin started a family. But, unlike her TV family, the actress only welcomed one child. For now, at least. In March 2016, Lakin gave birth to daughter Georgia James Brelt, whom she shares with husband Brandon Brelt (via E! News).
In a guest post on People, Lakin opened up about the difficulties of becoming a mom, a lesson she couldn't learn secondhand from TV parents Patrick Duffy and Susan Somers. "The fact of the matter is, it's hard. It's harder than I thought. And I read books!" Lakin wrote. "It's by far the hardest thing I've ever done. And I've had a career in the entertainment industry for 29 years without losing my marbles, which is no small feat."
But despite the stress of parenthood, Lakin still clearly loves her new life. She said, "The role of mom is definitely the hardest-earned, and so far, the best I've scored."
Considering that Lakin has over 100 acting credits to her name, we can guess that the actress must be pretty happy with her family life.
Neil Patrick Harris
Nearly 20 years after hanging up his white coat, Doogie Hauser, MD star Neil Patrick Harris became a father. In October 2010, Harris and her husband, actor David Burtka, welcomed twins Harper and Gideon, born via surrogate.
While talking with Barbara Walters four years later, Harris revealed that she and Burtka each fathered one of their children, but neither knows which child is biologically hers (via Daily Mail). from). And they really don't care. "I'm not interested in [finding out]," Harris explained. "We are his parents and I love him indirectly."
Since the birth of the children, Harris and Burtka have established a reputation for their families as major Halloween fans, dressing up the crew in coordinating costumes. The group tapped into everything from Peter Pan to Star Wars for inspiration—and they just haven't disappointed.
Brandy norwood
The Moesha star welcomed a baby girl in June 2002, just a year after her beloved UPN sitcom ended. Brandi Norwood documented the birth of her daughter, named Sirai Iman Smith, in MTV's four-part series Brandi: Special Delivery. And while Sy'rai's arrival may have put her in the spotlight straight out of the gate, Norwood has largely kept her child out of the public eye.
Still, she has opened up about her relationship with her daughter, revealing how she approaches motherhood with a different perspective than her mother. Norwood explained to Parade in 2010, "A lot of moms think they're moms first, with that right. But for me, I'm a friend first." "I believe that being there for my daughter as just a friend is more than just 'I'm in charge of...' she is more open with me as a person. That's just our relationship."
She continued, "At the end of the day we are going to be friends. When she grows up, it will be about the friendship that we will have. She will come to me for any problems. If I have an official There's a wall, she's going to rebel and won't come near me and I don't want that."
