Kanye West and his new flame are rocking the style world.
On Wednesday, Page Six confirmed that the rapper-designer, 44, and Russian supermodel Irina Shayk, 35, are dating — and while news of their budding romance may come as a surprise to some, the pair formed a bond. fashion industry decades ago.
In 2010, an up-and-coming Shayk made a cameo in West's music video for "Power" and a shoutout in his song "Christian Dior Denim Flow". Shortly after, she was cast in their Fall 2012 runway show at Paris Fashion Week.
At the time, the musician was designing under his Kanye West label; He won't be launching his first Yeezy collection until 2015.
Shayk spilled her stuff on the catwalk, donning a clingy velvet Devour dress, strappy gladiator-style boots and an oversized black leather coat, along with dramatic, smoky eye makeup.
Coincidentally, Kim Kardashian — who began dating the rapper at the time but would later become West's wife and mother of his children — sat front row on the same show, decked out in her designs.
"When I received the request to participate in the show, I was thrilled and immediately agreed," Shayk told PopSugar at the time.
"I consider Kanye West to be one of those rare people who bring new ideas to the world. He brought art to music, and now he's continuing his passion for fashion and I think it's absolutely amazing This is not the case with many musicians. He has a good eye for fashion and is not afraid to try new things.
In subsequent years, Shayk continued to support West's fashion efforts, stepping into many of his clothing and footwear creations as she skyrocketed to street-style stardom.
Most recently, she honored the late DMX in April by donating a $200 Yeezy x Balenciaga tribute tee, which helped raise $1 million for the rapper's family.
Both Shayk and West are close friends of designer Riccardo Tisci, who served as creative director for Givenchy for 12 years before taking over the reins at Burberry in 2018.
Shayk starred in campaigns during her time at both fashion houses and walked the runway for Tisci, while West featured her for 2011's Jay-Z, "Watch the Throne" as well as 2012's "Cruel Summer" album Tapped to create cover art.
The musician later introduced Tisci to Kardashian, and Givenchy Head designed several looks for the shapewear and beauty mogul, including the infamous (and meme-tastic) floral gown and gloves she wore on her first Mate with West in 2013. Wore to the gala.
Tisci is also rumored to have inspired West's fashion in the first place — and appropriately, even sat front row at that fateful runway show that Shayk walked in.
Kardashian, 40, filed for divorce from West in February, a month after Page Six broke the news that their relationship had ended after seven years.
West and Shayk — who share 4-year-old daughter Lee de Seine with ex Bradley Cooper — first sparked romance rumors on Wednesday when they were spotted vacationing together in Provence, France.
