LOS ANGELES - Philippe Anschutz sold his 27% minority interest in the Los Angeles Lakers to Los Angeles Dodgers co-owners Mark Walter & Todd Boehley in a deal that closed Friday.
The transaction was approved by the NBA's Board of Governors in accordance with AEG.
"We remain firmly invested in the long-term success of the franchise," Dan Beckerman, AEG's President & CEO, said in a statement. “We are confident that with Jenny (just) as the controlling owner of the team, the Lakers will continue to be the gold standard in the NBA. Mark Walter & Todd Boehley are great additions to the ownership group, & we look forward to partnering with them.” For many years to come."
Anschutz-owned AEG & the Lakers recently announced a 20-year extension to the team's lease at Staples Center. This includes both parties investing in upgrades & improvements in the downtown Los Angeles area, which the Lakers will continue to call home through 2041.
Boehly will join the Lakers' board of directors, representing the interests of both Walter & himself.
Walter is the co-founder & CEO of Guggenheim Partners, a privately held global financial services company, & the chairman of Dodgers.

Boehly is the co-founder, president & CEO of Aldridge, a holding company that invests in businesses related to sports & gaming, media & real estate. He is a part-owner of the Dodgers.
