Alabama star Will Anderson, outside linebacker, left the field with a knee injury during the third quarter of his 48-14 win over Mercer on Saturday.
Alabama coach Nick Saban said Anderson is considered a suspect for this coming week.
1-ranked Crimson Tide will hit the road to No. 13 Florida next Saturday.
"We're checking his knee," Saban said. "He is doubtful what his position will be for the coming week."
Anderson, one of the top pass-rushers in college football, appeared to be carrying a helmet to his knee when a Mercer player went to block him.
Anderson was spotted by the trainers on the sidelines and then taken to the locker room.
A Presidential All-SEC selection, Anderson received a sack during Alabama's season-opening win over Miami.
He was third on the SEC last season in sacks with seven and 10.5 in tackles.
Alabama was also without defensive backs Josh Jobe and Jaylen Armor-Davis, who were out for undisclosed injuries that prevented them from practicing during the week.
Saban said the injuries were relatively minor and he hopes to return to practice next week.
