The Los Angeles Chargers are on the doorstep of the start of the 2021 regular season when they take on the Washington football team on the road this Sunday. However, there is now some concern that he will not have one of his top weapons on offense as Austin Eckeler did not attend team practice on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury.
Of course, it's not a perfect development for the Chargers' offense, which is looking to consolidate seven in front of Washington this weekend. Having a healthy pass-catching back like Ackler in the backfield will certainly make life easier for Justin Herbert, so his participation in practice will be worth watching as the week progresses.
Eckeller is no stranger to dealing with hamstring injuries as he was limited to 10 games last season following hamstring and knee injuries in Week 4. Those injuries eventually sidelined him until week 12.
The 10 games Eckeler was able to play in showed why he is considered one of the more versatile backs in the league – and is widely considered a top 10 pick in this year's Fantasy Draft. He finished 2020 with a rush of 530 yards, 54 receptions to receive 403 yards, and a total of three touchdowns.
Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelly and Larry Rountree III are the other backs on the Los Angeles roster if Eckler misses out on the game.
