England, Colo. - Denver Broncos linebacker Bradley Chubb was briefly detained Tuesday in Douglas County (Colorado) over a pending warrant issued for failure to appear in court for a traffic violation.
Chubb was charged on May 6 in Arapahoe County - where the Broncos' practice facility is located and adjacent to Douglas County - of traffic misconduct. Chubb was charged with driving under restraint, which means operating a vehicle with a license that is suspended, revoked or restricted, as well as a license plate that had expired for more than 60 days.
According to records, Chubb's court date was Monday and a warrant was formally issued after he failed to appear.
Jeff Miller of the Sergeant Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Chubb was held Tuesday morning for a "minor traffic violation" and after a warrant search, Chubb was detained at the Douglas County Detention Center until Tuesday afternoon when Chubb was arrested. Posted "A Little Bond". '
"We are aware of this matter, which was related to an unresolved traffic citation that has now been addressed," the Broncos said in a statement.
Chubb had ankle surgery in May and last week Broncos coach Vic Fangio said that Chubb had "tweaked" his other ankle. But Chub practiced with the team on Monday and attended all team meetings.
Fangio said that after Monday's practice he expects Chubb to play against the New York Giants on Sunday.
