PARIS (AP) - Midfielder Ander Herrera scored twice and Kylian Mbappe added another as French league leader Paris Saint-Germain scored five straight victories in a 4-0 win over Clermont on Saturday.
Midfielder Idrisa Guay came off the bench to add a fourth goal in the middle of the second half.
Clermont lost for the first time since a bright start to Ligue 1.
Italy's European Championship star goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma, made his PSG debut, whose home fans will have to wait a while longer to see Lionel Messi at the Parc des Princes.
The Argentine star scored a hat-trick in World Cup qualifying on Thursday but was rested along with countrymen Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes and Brazilian star Neymar.
After international duty, they could return on Wednesday when PSG open their Champions League campaign away from Bruges. Messi may make his domestic debut against Lyon next Sunday.
But Mbappe shrugged off a minor calf injury while on international duty with France and he finished confidently from Danilo Pereira's pass in the 54th minute.
Herrera scored a rare goal in the first half and Guay scored in the 64th.
Late in the game, striker Bamba Dieng scored both goals as Marseille beat Monaco 2–0 to move to third place.
Monaco's defense was hard to stop Dieng, hitting the post twice before his first goal in the 36th. He added his second in the 59th.
Marseille has 10 goals so far, with only PSG scoring more than 16.
Monaco finished third last season, but have won only once and are in 14th place before Sunday's games.
"Four points in five matches is not what we were expecting, but things are the way they are," said Monaco coach Nico Kovac. "They deserved the win and could have finished 4-0 today, well done for them. We need to improve as soon as possible."
Sunday games
Surprise front-runner Angers is looking to maintain his unbeaten run while traveling to play struggling Brest.
Nice are also unbeaten before the trip to Nice and Lyon need to find form at home for Strasbourg.
Lyon coach Peter Bose is still catching up with his new role after replacing Rudy Garcia and has only won once. After scoring seven goals in four matches, Lyon's defense needs quick improvement.
