Milwaukee - Brewers left-hander Brent Sutter will miss the National League Division Series with a right oblique strain, another blow to a bullpen that is already missing setup man Devin Williams.
Milwaukee's bullpen depth has been a concern as Williams punched a wall and broke his throwing arm the night the Brewers won the National League Central title.
Williams went 8-2 in 54 innings with a 2.50 ERA and 87 strikeouts. Sutter was 12-5 with 3.07 ERA in 73 1/3 innings and pitched twice during the weekend series in Los Angeles that closed the regular season.
Atlanta also released their NLDS roster ahead of Friday's series opener, and the Braves will not feature Chris Martin or Richard Rodriguez in the bullpen. Martin was battling an elbow injury but was reactivated from the injured list in mid-September. Rodriguez, who received from Pittsburgh on the trade deadline, has allowed seven runs in 12 innings since September 1.
The Braves' 12-man staff for this best-of-five series included five pitchers who served primarily as starters: Charlie Morton, Max Fried, Ian Anderson, Huaskar Yonoa and Drew Smiley. Morton is starting Game 1 and Fried will be starting Game 2. Atlanta activated rookie left-handed reliever Dylan Lee, who has appeared in two major league games.
The Braves also added Terence Gore to their roster. The fast outfielder has never played for Atlanta, appearing in 102 regular-season games over seven seasons - most recently for the Dodgers in 2020. Gore played a key pinch-running role for the Kansas City Royals during his run for the American League pennant. World Series title in 2014 and 2015.
Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez, who was activated from the injured list on Saturday after missing a few weeks with a knee injury, is on the team's roster.
