Klarna now has more than 4,000 employees around the world, with just under half (1,500) focused on engineering.
Klarna is launching a new tech hub in Madrid with plans to hire 500 new jobs, a large part of which will be focused on engineering.
Tech talent has long been in high demand and Karlna already has technology centers in Stockholm, Milan and Berlin. Klarna is looking for product developers for the new center, which includes engineers, product managers, designers and experts in data science and analytics.
Nearly half of Klarna's c.4,000 employees (1,500) are focused on engineering globally. Klarna started its shopping and payment services in Spain in the summer of 2020 and said it now works with more than 160 retailers in the country.
Karlana CEO Sebastian Ciamiatkowski said: "Traditional banks and card companies have been charging customers more for an incredibly poor customer experience for a very long time. We aim to provide consumers with an app, in-store and with a trusted brand Permit to bank, shop and pay online. "
