Salma Hayek Reveals She Nearly Died From COVID-19
"My doctor told me to go to the hospital because it was so bad. I said, 'No, thanks. I would love to die at home, ”the actor told Variety.
Actress Salma Hayek has opened up about her week-long, almost deadly battle with COVID-19 - from which she has not fully recovered even after a year.
In a new interview with Variety, the Mexican star recalled being isolated inside a room in his London home for seven weeks after contracting coronavirus early in the epidemic.
Hayek, 54, nominated for an Academy Award, required oxygen - but refused hospitalization.
"My doctor told me to go to the hospital because it was so bad," he told the magazine. "I said, 'No thanks. I would love to die at home.'"
Hayek finally returned last month to the set of Ridley Scott's "House of Gucci", which focused on the murder of Italian fashion giant Maurizio Gucci.
Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino and Jeremy Iron also star.
"It wasn't long," Hayek said of the role. "It was easy. It was the perfect job to get back into it. I started zooming in a while, but I could only do so much because I was so tired."
