Why Princess Beatrice's baby will have a title but Princess Eugenie's son does not
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi announced that they are expecting their first child in the autumn — and their child will have the title
Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have announced that they are expecting a baby this year — and the newborn will receive a title upon her arrival.
- Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzy are currently expecting their first child together.
- The child will receive a title, although Princess Eugenie's son does not have one.
The baby will be Princess Beatrice's first and her husband's second child, as he shares a five-year-old son, Wolfie, with his former fiancée.
In a statement on May 19, Buckingham Palace confirmed Beatrice's pregnancy, writing, "His Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very happy to announce that they are expecting a baby in the autumn of this year Huh.
"The queen has been informed and both families are happy with this news." The statement was accompanied by a photograph of the couple on their wedding day last year.
2021 has been a long time for the royal children. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brookbank welcomed their first child, August Phillip Hawk, in February. The following month, Zara and Mike Tindall also welcomed a son, Lucas Philippe.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a baby girl in the summer, meaning the queen will have welcomed four new great-grandchildren into her family by the end of the year. His Majesty now has ten grandchildren (soon to be 12!)
She will receive a title when Princess Beatrice's baby arrives, while her sister's son August does not have one. However, this is not an unfair oversight - it is simply that the title is not British.
What title would Princess Beatrice's child have?
As the official title of Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is Count, the child will receive the title of Conte or Nobel Donna - which means "great lady" in Italian. His family was part of the Italian nobility and together retained the title.
After the couple's marriage, Beatrice actually became an Italian Countess. The couple will celebrate their second wedding anniversary in just a few weeks, tied last year in a small, socially distant ceremony.
Edoardo's father Count Mozzi told the Daily Mail in 2020, "Edoardo is the only male descendant to carry the family into the next generation. He is a count - his wife will automatically be a Countess and any of their children will be Count or Noble Donna. Will happen. "
We can not wait to hear the news of their child's safe arrival!
