The Halo Trust, whom Princess Diana had a strong connection with, witnessed the death of ten members of its staff. Read on to know more.
Come July and it will be the 60th birth anniversary of the late Princess Diana. The royal family has planned several events and one of them is the unveiling of a statue of Diana on July 1. The event has been much talked about as it will once again see Prince William and Prince Harry in the UK. However, hello! According to a latest report in the U.S., before the unveiling ceremony of the statue, the brothers received some disturbing news regarding Diana.
The Helo Trust, with which Diana was closely associated, witnessed the death of ten members of its staff by an armed group at a mine clearance camp in Afghanistan. Diana was a strong supporter of a ban on landmines and famously traveled through one of Helo's mines in Angola in 1997. In fact, after his visit, the Ottawa Mine Ban Treaty was even signed, urging countries to ban landmines.
Years later, Diana's son Prince Harry also stepped into the same minefield in 2019 to spread awareness about the important cause. On July 1, William and Harry are due to unveil a statue of their mother, the late Princess Diana, at Kensington Palace. The statue is being installed in Sunken Gardens.
The historic birth anniversary of the brothers will come together once again after their reunion in April. While earlier reports confirmed Prince Harry's presence, it now remains to be seen whether the Duke of Sussex will travel to the UK following the birth of his daughter Lily last week.
