Bird Group Executive Director Ankur Bhatia no more
Ankur Bhatia, executive director of Bird Group, passed away on Friday at the age of 48.
Reports suggest that he had suffered a massive cardiac arrest. Bhatia has led the Group's strategic thrust to create multiple drivers of growth that have made significant and growing contributions to the Company and the industry at large.
They also shaped and implemented Blue Ocean strategies that strengthen the overall brand proposition and leapfrog into core business value by exploring new growth avenues to build uncontested market leadership.
Bhatia is credited with bringing the Amadeus brand to the Indian subcontinent in 1994, which is today the market leader in providing travel technology to travel agents and airlines.
In line with Bhatia's commitment towards shaping the future of mobility in India, Bird Group forays into the electric mobility space and continues to add new-age unique mobility vehicles to the product portfolio of its subsidiary Bird Electric.
Bird Electric has pioneered the personal mobility equipment space in India as the exclusive distributor of Segway Personal Transporters (PT) for the past 10 years.
As Executive Director, Bhatia led the group's growth in the hospitality sector under Bird Hospitality Services to set new benchmarks and world-class hospitality properties through Rosette Hotels & Resorts.
Currently, the group owns and operates six uber luxury properties in India and the UK, each with an individual brand identity. He is also credited with launching the country's first all-natural and perennial indoor ice-skating rink and cafe – IceKate, located at Ambience Mall, Gurugram.
