Second-half goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane helped England reach the Euro 2020 quarter-finals after beating Germany 2-0 at Wembley on Tuesday.

It was a game of few chances, though Jordan Pickford made an impressive save to deny Kai Havertz just after the interval, while Germany defender Matt Hummels made an impressive goal line tackle to deny Kane before half-time.
After a quiet first half, Luke Shaw rose into the game and provided assists for both England openers, while Jack Grealish once again started on the bench, but was introduced on 69 minutes in place of Bukayo Saka and set. up a target.
The breakthrough came in 75 minutes when Shaw, after a good work from Grealish, played a delivery to Sterling.
The Manchester City forward also made England winners in their 1–0 Group D wins over Croatia and the Czech Republic.
Thomas Müller had a great opportunity to equalize for Germany after Sterling took the ball away, but somehow stepped up his effort when he was cleaned out.
Shaw and Grealish reunited for the second goal with Aston Villa Man providing an assist on the occasion.
Kane, who appeared to be injured in the middle of the second half but kept playing, sealed the victory with his first goal of the tournament on 86 minutes as he finished off a Grealish cross with a pass-header.
"We knew we needed a big show against a tough team and that's what we did today," Sterling said after the match. "It's always special to do it for your country.
"For half a second I thought not to let it [Sterling's goal] go offside, but I'm so glad it went in. We knew not many teams could deal with the intensity we could play .
"We kept going, [Declan] Rice and [kalvin] Phillips, ate the ground and there were the animals. All-round, great team performance. We take it from the game, we walk away, recover and the next Let's focus on one."
It was England's second knockout win at the European Championships and will face either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarter-finals.
A clean sheet ensures that England are the only remaining side in the Euros to have not conceded a goal yet.
