Mercedes has postponed a Formula One test with French driver Romain Grosjean due to travel restrictions and quarantine requirements, the seven-time world champion said on Wednesday.
"We are committed to giving Romain a chance at a Mercedes F1 car and we are working to reschedule the test for the end of this summer," Mercedes said in a statement.
The Frenchman's drive in Lewis Hamilton's 2019 title-winning car was scheduled for the Le Castellet circuit in France on June 29 - seven months after surviving a horrific crash in Bahrain, his last race in F1.
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff offered a test as Grosjean, who now races in the US-based IndyCar series, lay in the hospital with burns on his hands.
Grosjean's Haas car split in half and burst into flames after penetrating a metal barrier on the opening lap at Sakhir, with the Frenchman miraculously managing to extricate himself and leap clear.
