New e-filing website (www.incometax.gov.in) launch: Along with the launch of the new e-filing portal, the Income Tax Department will also provide free of cost ITR preparation software for Forms ITR-1, ITR-2 this month.
New e-filing website (www.incometax.gov.in) launched: Income Tax Department today (June 7, 2021) launched its new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in. It will provide convenience & a "modern, seamless experience" to the taxpayers. "Dear Taxpayers, Income Tax Department is pleased to inform the launch of its new e-filing portal www.incometax.gov.in on 7th June 2021," the tax department said in messages sent to taxpayers.
“We are as excited about the new portal as our users! We are in the final stages of the roll-out of the new portal & it will be available shortly. We appreciate your patience as we move towards rolling it out soon. I am working in,” the tax department tweeted at 9 am.
Along with the launch of the new e-filing portal, the Income Tax Department will also provide free ITR preparation software for Forms ITR-1, ITR-2 & 4. Earlier in a statement the Finance Ministry had said, "Free ITR preparation software with interactive questions is available to help taxpayers for ITR 1, 4 (Online & Offline) and ITR 2 (Offline); Facility to prepare ITR 3, 5, 6, 7 will be made available soon.

New e-Filing Portal Features and Benefits
- Immediate processing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) for quick issuance of refunds to taxpayers
- Single dashboard to display all interactions and uploads or pending actions for follow up action by the taxpayer;
