Serena Williams says she will not play at this Summer Olympics.
The American, most recently in tennis, who won four gold medals in women's singles in 2012, said she chose not to move to Tokyo for a variety of reasons.
"I'm not really on the Olympic list, not that I'm aware of that," the 39-year-old told reporters at Wimbledon on Sunday. "If so, I shouldn't be on it."
Williams won the gold medal at the London Games, defeating Maria Sharapova in the final, and won in doubles with sister Venus Williams in Sydney in 2000, Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012.
"There are so many reasons I made my Olympic decision," she said. "I really don't want to - I don't feel like going to them today. Maybe another day. Sorry.
"I haven't thought about it. In the past [the Olympics] have been a wonderful place for me. I haven't really thought about it, so I won't keep thinking about it."
Williams plays Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus on Tuesday in her quest for an eighth Wimbledon title and a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title.
The return of Naomi Osaka due to mental health reasons and 2019 champion Simona Halep due to injury have opened the draw for this year's event.
But Williams, seeded sixth for the championship this year, said she would take nothing.
"I think the draw for women is so deep, no matter what you play," she said. "You really have to show up now.
"There aren't matches anymore that are going to be a definite walk-through. You just have to really keep your head up, keep your game going."
