Two-time ISL winners Chennaiyin FC on Saturday appointed Bojidar Bandovic as the head coach ahead of the 2021-22 season.
The 51-year-old Montenegro player will lead the club on a one-year contract, a CFC press release said. Bandovic replaced Zaba Laszlo, who was at the top of the Indian Super League last season.
The new Chennaiyin FC coach was quoted as saying, "I am ready and I can't wait to start. After our conversation, I realized this club is very special. I was very impressed. At Chennaiyin, I I want us to be a team that knows what to do in a variety of tactical situations when attacking, defending and transitioning. My goal is to improve the team and the players smartly and individually."
Vita Dani, Co-Owner of Chennaiyin FC, said, “We are absolutely delighted to have someone like Bozhidar Bandovic take over as the head coach. What he has achieved in Thailand is a testament to his abilities and we are equal to him in India Hoping to show efficiency."
Bandovic further said that he watched several games from last year and will first evaluate and complete the team.
In the previous season, although László had played a lucrative brand of football to Chennaiyin, a lack of clinical finishing meant that the '19–'20 finalists finished eighth in the table and scored only 17 goals in 20 matches with 20 points. Which is the lowest one profit in the division.
