San Diego Padres left-hander Blake Snell was on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday due to left adductor groin strain, the team announced.
The Padres signed right-hander Vince Velasquez to a minor league contract and recalled right-hander Shawn Anderson from Triple-A El Paso.
Snell, 28, injured his groin in the first innings of their 8-0 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. After retiring his first two batsmen, Snell was facing Tree Turner when he suddenly left the mound with a 2–1 count. He was dropped from the game and walked off the field with a slight limp.
Snell, a 2018 AL Cy Young Award winner, is 7-6 with a 4.22 ERA.
