Richard Marx Makes No Apologies for His Politics ‘I’d Rather Have Jeffrey Dahmer Than Donald Trump’
Like most of us, Richard Marx found the first 10 days of quarantine and lockdown to be a surprise - and therefore his "#SocialDistancing" web series, where he talks about politics, music and life with guests , Mostly caused by accident.
"I was doing a lot because it was occupying my mind," the "Right Here Waiting" and "Hazard" singer tells Variety. He says the talk show, which he has been doing on Instagram and YouTube since March 18, kept him from worrying about his children, his mom and the people he loved. They now have two web series, "#Social Distancing" and "#Beachin", on top of a new podcast, "Tequila Talk". Initially, at least, these domestic efforts also diverted attention from politics ... However, for Marx, who always comes back as a unique attraction, his new album "Limitless" was just released Was.
For those who follow Marx on Twitter, politics is overshadowing their mind. He has been particularly vocal about Donald Trump for his 230, 000 followers, calling on the president and his supporters. "This week, while responding to a tweet in which Trump announced that he planned to sign an executive order to temporarily suspend immigration to the US, Marx's generally sharp response was:" Ugh - Huh. Can you sign something to keep the white f-sticks in Michigan away from me waving Confederate flags? ”He tweeted.
Uh huh. Can you sign something to keep the white fucksticks in Michigan waving confederate flags away from me? https://t.co/cBjrd52z6B

Marx, who has been in lockdown with his wife Daisy Fuentes (of MTV fame), says he was not always so passionate about politics. "It started when Bush lost the popular vote against Gore," he says. "I still think Bush should have been accused of war crimes." This is something he still gets angry for thinking about. "I never thought he was a traitor. I thought he was dumb but I never thought he was a despicable human being," he continues, discussing the post-9/11 world after Bush. Happened. But one thing about Bush that impressed him was his humanity: "I could see how he was with his father, and he publicly respected his wife."
His feelings about Bush "pale in comparison to the anger I felt in this presidency. I think this man is a vile piece of garbage. The country will recover, even if he is for another four years Ho. We'll be alright, but we'll never be the same again. He'll leave a stain on this country for generations to come. He has no redemptive qualities. "
Marx states that he has found that people are trying to point to the redemptive elements of the administration, such as the low unemployment rate among African Americans. "What people don't know is that they are brainwashed, especially when you point out that black unemployment is only 1% lower than Obama's term," says Marx.
"At this point, I would prefer Jeffrey Demar instead of Donald Trump," he continued.
He's not entirely thrilled about Joe Biden being the Democratic nominee - even though he wasn't thrilled about Bernie Sanders, but for Marx, at least Biden is a decent human being: "He's smart and kind."
But he and Fuentes know when to strike that balance and when they have enough news of the day. If they're not meditating or scrolling on Instagram, they can be found on their social media pages doing snippets of songs or mini-concerts for their fans in the "Beechin '" series every Friday . "I did car songs where I jammed other people's songs in my car, and that was an extension of that."
Guns N 'Roses bassist Duff McKagan, musician Kenny G and artist Laura Benati have all made guest appearances on their Instagram shows.
But there are two names left for Marx, who loves the idea of speaking things in expression. "I love talking to Rod Stewart," Marx says. "I like talking to Cher and we can talk about all kinds of things."
They go back, with Marx performing backing vocals on Cher's 1991 album "Love Hurts". At that time, Toto's Steve Luther was producing "World Without Heroes" and called Marx inside. "We were almost finished and walking into Cher. She came down to say hello and thank me. We ended up talking for an hour. She was carefree, sexy and fun," says Marx, hoping Is that his dream guest list will be revealed.
