Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmund said Christian Ericsson will watch his next Euro 2020 match against Belgium from the hospital.
Ericsson, 29, suffered a heart attack in the 42nd minute of Denmark's first match against Finland on Saturday and is in hospital. They are being monitored at the Rigshospitel, just 500 meters from Copenhagen's Parken Stadium, where Denmark plays Belgium on Thursday.
"Yes, I think Christian will watch [the game]," Hazulmand said at a news conference on Wednesday. "It's really crazy, the hospital is right next to Parken, and when he looks out the window he can see Parken and maybe he can hear everything from Parken.
"It's a crazy situation for Christian. But I think he'll be in his shirt and watch the game."
Meanwhile, the Danish Football Association has asked UEFA to change its procedures following Ericsson's collapse and subsequent decision to restart the game.
The Danes were given a chance to resume the match on the same evening or at 12 noon. CEST (6 a.m. ET) the next day at noon.
Despite being apparently shaken, they resumed the match and lost 1–0, but Hujulmand and his players have since stated that they would have preferred not to play.
"It was a wrong decision and completely untenable that the players had to be on the field so quickly after the horrific experience," DBU president Jesper Möller said in a statement on Wednesday.
"This is a position in which players and coaches should not be placed, as it is not and should not be their decision."
Ericsson suffered a heart attack on the pitch and was taken to hospital where he is now recovering.
UEFA has come in for sharp criticism from former Denmark internationals Peter Schmeichel and Michael Laudrup, with the latter saying the option of restarting on Saturday or Sunday was not liked at all.
"We now want an evaluation of the entire decision-making process so that we can get all the relevant facts and information on the table," Moller said.
"We should see a change in the rules to ensure that we are never in the same situation again. We are ready to submit a proposal to UEFA," he added.
In a statement to Reuters, UEFA said: "The matter is considered sensitive and with the utmost respect for the players. Match can only be resumed after both teams requested the end of play on the same evening." It was decided to do so."
