Jelena Ostapenko and Alex de Minaur prepared for Wimbledon on Saturday by winning the first grass-court title of their careers at the Eastbourne tournament.
Ostapenko, the 2017 French Open champion and wild-card entry at Eastbourne, claimed her first WTA trophy since 2019 and her fourth trophy overall after beating Anette Kontaveit 6-3, 6-3 in the women's final.
No. 2-seeded De Minaur then came in over 2 1/2 hours in the men's final, ahead of No. 3 seed Lorenzo Sonego 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5), in which each player collected total points. Same number of, 107-107.
It gave the 22-year-old Australian his fifth ATP title and second title of 2021. He has appeared in all eight previous finals, including his championship in Antalya, Turkey in January.
Best Grand Slam performance for De Minaur was also last year's U.S. Came on hard court with a quarterfinal run in the Open.
He has reached the third round of Wimbledon.
Ostapenko reached the semi-finals in 2018 and the quarter-finals a year earlier, and won the girls' title there in 2014. But she lost in the first round of Wimbledon, last played two years ago, and was also in the first round. The two major tournaments earlier this year have been knocked out each of the Australian Open and the French Open.

Ostapenko, 24, from Latvia, said: "I think I've got some confidence and it's probably time to show some good tennis at Wimbledon."
It was the first women's final in Eastbourne between two unseeded players since 2013.
Kontaveit, 25, of Estonia is ranked 27th. His record in the WTA Finals fell to 1–7.
De Minaur has been assured of a career-high No. 15 from No. 18 in the ATP rankings next week.
He goes to Wimbledon this month on an 8-2 roll on the grass, including last week's semifinal at Queen's Club.
Italy's Sonego, ranked 27th, is now 0-2 against De Minaur and 2-2 in the ATP Finals.
