Top Story: City ready to wait for Kane's verdict
The Harry Kane saga may be going to the wire, with claims Manchester City are optimistic of getting a deal on the line to bring on the Tottenham Hotspur star.
The Mirror writes that Pep Guardiola's side are prepared to wait until the end of the transfer window on 31 August, with hopes that Kane's willingness to leave will prove crucial in Spurs chairman Daniel Levy's decision.
The 27-year-old has previously said he wants a new challenge, but Levy's response so far has been that Kane is unavailable.
City are set to pay £100 million for the England international and could involve players in a swap deal to help them reach a deal with Spurs.
- Antoine Griezmann's future may be more clear with reports that the France international has told Barcelona that he wants to join Juventus. This is according to Calciomercato, who says the Serie A club has already approached the 30-year-old over a possible move. Blaugrana has been active in trying to land Griezmann this summer as the club tries to make room on the salary bill for the renewal of Lionel Messi's contract.
- AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho could target Paris Saint-Germain's Mauro Icardi in place of Edin Dzeko, writes Calciomercato. The report said the striker is at the top of Roma's shortlist as the club continues to explore the market for a frontman. The 28-year-old scored 12 goals in 24 appearances last season, while managing to register three assists in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino's side.
- The Daily Star reports that Manchester United are keen to pursue Anthony Martial after completing the signing of Jadon Sancho. Reports claim Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side want a £50m transfer fee for the French forward who currently earns £250,000 a week. Spurs are interested in the 25-year-old, but it is unclear whether Nuno Espirito Santo's side will be ready to match the assessment.
- Timo Werner could be set to return to the Bundesliga, with reports that there is solid interest from Bayern Munich. Football Insider writes that Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann is a fan of the 25-year-old and that Chelsea would be open to the transfer of the ex-RB Leipzig man, who did not make the expected impact from him last season, registering 35 appearances in the Premier League. Just six goals.
- Northampton Town's Caleb Chuquemeca is attracting more interest from clubs across Europe, with Spurs interested in a move for the prospect this time. Football Insider writes that the Premier League club is planning a swap deal that would see the 19-year-old move to north London. The teenager made 28 appearances since entering the first team last season.
- Fichajes journalist Ekrem Konur says Celtic made a vision for Antwerp's Aurelio Buta. The offer is said to be €2.5m, which is just €1m shy of the Belgian club's valuation. The right-sided player is believed to be a high priority for new manager Ange Postekoglu, who took over at Celtic Park this summer.
