Phoenix Suns forward Dario Saric suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the team announced Wednesday.
The team said that he is out indefinitely.
"It's one of those situations that literally breaks your heart," said Sons coach Monty Williams. "Dario is a guy I've been with twice. I coached him in Philly, and for the chance to be here with him, he's all about Sun basketball. Hardworking, incredible guy and he plays in these finals. were very eager to
"And with a few minutes to play and that kind of injury, it was hard to hear this morning."
Sarik drove over Milwaukee Bucks center Brooke Lopez in the first quarter late Tuesday and got a sprained right knee when he put his foot in the paint.
He checked out of the game with 1:43 remaining in the quarter and helped him off the court in the Sons locker room, with a rebound and a missed shot in two minutes of play.
The five-year veteran reached the final with an average of 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 11.1 minutes per game during Sun's post-season run.
The team has relatively thin depth on the frontcourt and turned to Torrey Craig and Frank Kaminsky to fill most of Sarik's minutes in his 118–105 win in Game 1.
Craig has been a regular part of the sports rotation, but Kaminsky hasn't seen much time post season.
"We have different options," Williams said. "Frank gives us quality shape and ability to play. He's smart. We were younger with Toure last night. We also have Dooley [Abdel Nader], who can play some small balls ... so we just make him Going to try to decide on the fly. But those three people come to mind."
