A late Emil Forsberg penalty put Sweden on the verge of qualifying in the knockout stages as they temporarily top Group E after a 1-0 win over Slovakia in St Petersburg on Friday.
Sweden's youth star Alexander Isak delivered another impressive performance, acting as a bright spark in an otherwise quiet case for his side. The Real Sociedad striker was the most dangerous player in his country during their 0-0 draw against Spain in their Euro 2020 opener.
Chances were few and far between for both sides in the first half as Slovakia were in possession but failed to create a threat.
Sweden's Ludwig Augustinsen managed to fire a powerful header on goal at the hour mark, forcing Slovakian goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to save an arm.
Isaac set on 75 minutes in Sweden teammate Robin Quaison, who was brought down by Dubravka before winger Forsberg took the ball home from the penalty spot. It was only the third of five prizes awarded in the tournament.
After winning their first game against Poland, Slovakia still have a chance to advance to the knockout stage, even as they face group favorites Spain in their final game on Wednesday.
Spain will take on Poland in their second match in Seville on Saturday.
