The club confirmed on Sunday that Louis Cortés has stepped down as coach of the Barcelona women's team after winning the treble this season.
Cortés, 34, helped Barca win the Champions League for the first time in their history in May, but sources told ESPN that he had broken up with the players.
"It's been two and a half years as coach and four years with this group and I've come to this decision after a season full of success," Cortes said.
"When I took over, I said I wouldn't leave until we won the Champions League and we've done that. And not only that, but we've had two historic seasons.
"Right now, I feel like I don't have the energy to lead this team. The best team in the world needs a coach capable of motivating the group. I don't think I can anymore.
"It's been an exhausting year. This team needs changes to win and one of them is me stepping into the team. It's a decision I've given a lot of thought to."
Sources told ESPN that the board learned of differences between the coach and the team ahead of the season's final match against Eibar on Sunday.
Cortés, who only signed a new deal in May, was initially keen to remain in the role, but admitted it would be best for the team if he resigned and Eibar told the players his decisions before the match. told about.
Cortés, who was previously Fran Sanchez's assistant coach, took over in 2019 and led Barca to their maiden Champions League final at the end of that year after losing to Lyon.
In their first full season in charge, Barca won the home double, ending a five-year wait for the Primera División title.
Barca put up an even better performance last season by winning the treble. They beat Chelsea 4–0 in the Champions League final in May and recorded a record-breaking number in the league.
They finished the season 9–1 against Eibar on Sunday, their 33rd win in 34 league games. He scored 167 goals and conceded just 15 on his way to the title.
Their only dropped points came in a 4–3 loss to Atlético Madrid earlier in June, when they rolled heavily with the game less than 48 hours into the Copa de la Reina final.
