Ahead Of Series Premiere Today, Tom Hiddleston On What Has Made Loki’s MCU Journey Successful
Marvel star Tom Hiddleston says his character Loki's "weaknesses" draw people to the god of mischief, who is finally stepping out of his brother Thor's shadow into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) series alone.
Loki, the third series in Marvel Studios' Disney Plus, focuses on Hiddleston's witty master of magic, following the events of 2019's Avengers: Endgame.
While the films have mainly touched on Loki's mischievous side, the series aims to give an insight beneath the fan-favorite villain's wickedness.
"I find that over time I've been exposed to the various things he represents. Some enjoy his playfulness, his spontaneity, and his inherent sense of mischief. Some attribute his character as an antagonist. enjoy.
“There are some people who, beneath all these layers of charm and charisma, make up for his weaknesses. There's something really relatable about the vulnerability," said Hiddleston. The British star, who played Loki in six MCU films, said he credits his success to all the writers who contributed to creating the character.
Infinity War saw Loki's character die at the hands of Thanos, but the series begins with the character becoming trapped in the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a fictional organization that monitors the timeline in Marvel Comics. Loki's range as a character makes his work even more exciting, with Hiddleston saying, "I love playing Loki. I feel so lucky that I'm still here and every time I go through it." There are new facets of character when I learn about it." The series is directed by Sex Education fame Kate Heron and executive produced by Kevin Feige.
