Christian Pulisic has said that joining Chelsea for his first full season ahead of the new campaign is a "huge positive".
The 22-year-old joined Chelsea in 2019 from Borussia Dortmund but missed the start of preseason training and only met with his teammates that summer.
The United States men's national team International was also not included in the club's preseason plans last season after suffering an injury after losing to Arsenal in the 2020 FA Cup final.
However, Pulisic was part of the squad that traveled to the Republic of Ireland this year and said the preparation would help him start the new campaign on a positive note.
"I think it's going to be a big positive for me, so I look forward to the start of the season," he told the club's official website.
“This year is my first real full preseason at Chelsea and it has given me a good chance to get back to my full fitness and be 100% fit and ready to play 90 minutes once the season starts. The ongoing ground is definitely the goal of the season."
Pulisic got off to a good start to the President after scoring in Chelsea's emphatic 6-1 win over Peterborough United last weekend.
Pulisic and Chelsea finished last season with a 1-0 victory over Premier League champions Manchester City in the Champions League in May.
The forward became the first American man to win the trophy and said he is looking forward to training with his teammates this summer.
"It's great to be back and see people again and ready for the new season," Pulisic said. "In a way it's starting to feel a little bit surreal, just straight back to work, that kind of feeling, almost like it never happened.
"But it's great to come back and see people again and get ready for the new season. It's been really good so far. I think it's a good start, I feel fit again and let's go And I think the team is looking good.
"We also had the game against Peterborough, so we started really well with the win, and it was a very strong performance as well."
Chelsea will begin their Premier League campaign on 1 August with a visit to London rivals Arsenal.
