‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ author Eric Carle has died at 91
NEW YORK (AP) - Eric Carle, beloved children's author & illustrator whose classic "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" & other works gave millions of children some of his earliest & most cherished literary memories, died at age 91 Gone.
Carley's family says he died on Sunday at his summer studio in Northampton, Massachusetts, along with family members. The family announcement was released by Penguin Young Leaders.
"Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" Through books like "You wanna be my friend?" & "from head to toe," Carle introduced universal themes in simple words & bright colors.
"The unknown often brings fear with itself," he once observed. "In my books I try to counteract this fear, try to replace it with a positive message. I believe that children are naturally creative & eager to learn. I want to show them that Learning is both really engaging & fun. "
"The Very Hungry Caterpillar", published in 1969, was welcomed by parents & delighted children, with the tale of a green & red caterpillar metamorphosed into a proudly multicolored butterfly with a touch of blue & brown.
