The English Football Association plans to award Gareth Southgate a new contract regardless of England's performance at Euro 2020.
Southgate's current deal - reportedly worth £3 million a year - runs through the end of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The 50-year-old has faced criticism in some quarters for England's conservative approach to this summer's final but they top Group D without conceding a goal and now face old rivals Germany in the round of 16 at Wembley on Tuesday. will face.
FA chief executive Mark Bullingham sought to relieve any pressure on Southgate's position before that game, suggesting he be given the chance to remain in the role, whatever the outcome.
"We would love to see him go beyond this contract, of course," Bullingham said at St George's Park on Friday. "We'll get into that formal conversation after this tournament. But if you ask me now, I'd say yes we want him to move on.
"Gareth has done a fantastic job, being top of the group, really solid defense, and he's done really well on the pitch and in every aspect. Our support is unwavering. 100% unwavering. We're 100% behind Gareth . knows how we feel about him.
"We think he's fantastic both on and off the pitch. He's doing a great job. Despite Tuesday, of course. Despite the group stage of the tournament, we wanted him to go ahead."
Southgate has previously expressed a desire to return to club management one day, but has not yet indicated whether he would be willing to continue as England boss next year.
Since being appointed in 2016, Southgate has led England to the semi-finals of the last World Cup in Russia - only the third time the country has gone so far - and also to the semi-finals of UEFA's inaugural Nations League in 2019.
Bellingham continued, "It's easy to say he's been brilliant off the pitch - and he has - but on the pitch he's been fantastic as well." "Semi-finals in the World Cup, great performances in the Nations League, some absolutely great games. And even in games where we didn't get what we wanted, I would say the conditions have to be over."
Southgate has been linked to various club jobs - including a vacant managerial position at Tottenham - but Bullingham denied that the FA had been formally approached by any interested party.
"We didn't get that, no," he said. “We are in a competitive world, I am sure he has a name attached to every job, but as far as I know he is really committed to the job and I think he does it brilliantly. From our point of view, he has our full support and he knows how we feel about him which is the most important thing from our side."
"I think the fact [the 2022 World Cup] is only 18 months away is also exciting. Also, getting this tournament delayed was challenging in many ways, but it not only narrows the gap for the next tournament but then you Let's look at Germany [for Euro 2024] after that -- there's only 18 months after that. I think this coming three years is going to be really exciting."
